Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to questions regarding whether stand-up comedian Nurlan Saburov could face deportation from Russia, Orda.kz reports.
Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rakhmetullin clarified that Saburov has not contacted the Ministry for assistance.
As far as I know, there have been no written or verbal requests from him. Perhaps, while we are talking here, something is already changing, someone is contacting. Therefore, I must go back, check the information, clarify with colleagues,
Rakhmetullin said, speaking on the sidelines of the Majilis.
Saburov was reportedly detained at Sheremetyevo Airport for alleged violations of Russian migration laws.
