The state intends to regulate the market and prevent sharp increases in fuel prices, said Almassadam Satkaliyev at a briefing on January 29.
The Agency for Protection and Development of Competition will investigate unjustified price increases, such as an immediate jump of 30 tenge.
We intend to regulate the market, and the state will take measures to prevent sharp increases in fuel prices. This is the liberalization process. As you know, the antimonopoly agency can start an investigation at any time if refueling stations begin to receive excessive monopolistic income, stated the Minister.
Satkaliyev clarified that this isn't about strict price regulation but rather market liberalization that will help avoid sharp spikes in fuel costs.
