Kazakhstan's Demographic Changes Over The Year: Birth Rates, Marriages, and Migration

As of January 1, 2025, Kazakhstan's population has reached 20.3 million, 252,000 people increase over the past year, primarily due to natural growth, Orda.kz reports.
Births and Mortality
Over the past year, 368,000 children were born, with the highest number in the southern regions.
Meanwhile, 133,000 people died, primarily in the northern and eastern areas, where the population tends to be older.
Marriages and Divorces
In 2024, 123,000 marriages and 40,000 (32% of all marriages) divorces were recorded.
Migration
Kazakhstan saw an influx of 30,000 people and 13,000 people leaving the country. Internal migration remains strong, with many moving to major cities like Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, and the Almaty region.
