A resident of Atyrau vacationing in Egypt witnessed a missile strike on Israel. Azamat Zhangaziyev saw a flash in the sky during an evening walk on the beach and later realized what it was. He shared his account with Orda.kz.
Azamat had traveled to Sharm el-Sheikh with his family for a holiday.
We were walking along the beach near the hotel in the evening. It was calm and quiet. Suddenly, a bright flash appeared in the sky. It was far away, but clearly visible. We looked at each other and stopped. It was a little scary,he recalls.
People continued their conversations, some filmed the sky, but the overall mood shifted:
Later, in our room, we saw the news: Iran had fired missiles at Israel. That’s when it became clear what we had seen. It was distant, but the impression stayed with us. Just knowing you're in another country, close to a region where something is happening — it makes you uneasy,he says.
Azamat didn’t feel in danger but was still affected by the experience.
We came to relax. No one expected to witness such events. Of course, the situation in Egypt remains stable. The hotel is open, and everything is calm. But that evening stuck with us.
Life at the resort goes on. Still, recent news from the Middle East has become a topic of conversation.
According to Azamat, the experience didn’t ruin the vacation, but changed his perspective.
We live in a world where something can happen at any moment — even on the quietest night on the shores of the Red Sea,he says.
He continues his holiday and hopes to return home safely.
Israel and Iran have been exchanging strikes since June 13. Both sides have reported casualties and injuries.
