Kazakhstan’s government has updated the rules on the use of state symbols. Citizens can now hang the national flag on balconies of residential buildings, Orda.kz reports.
Citizens and organizations will be allowed to use the flag to express patriotism, Kazakhstani identity and support for the country’s achievements. The flag may be placed on buildings, residential and non-residential premises, including balconies, at a 45-degree angle. It may also be used during ceremonial events.
On private houses, the flag can be installed at a height of at least three meters. Mandatory lighting at night has been canceled for such cases.
The requirements for the flag itself remain unchanged. It must comply with the national standard, regardless of size. Using a flag that does not meet the standard, or treating it disrespectfully, is prohibited.
The government adopted the resolution on June 26, but it had not yet entered into force at the time of publication.
