Kazakhstani Company's Assets Frozen over Russian Ties
Almaty company Kazstanex has been added to the UK sanctions list. The US Treasury Department had already sanctioned it, Orda.kz reports.
The company was among 46 entities on the UK's sanctions list on November 7 for alleged links to Russia. British authorities believe it was "involved in the destabilization of Ukraine."
KAZSTANEX LIMITED LIABILITY PARTNERSHIP is an involved person under the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 on the following ground: KAZSTANEX LIMITED LIABILITY PARTNERSHIP is or has been involved in destabilising Ukraine or undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine, through providing financial services, or making available funds, economic resources, goods or technology, that could contribute to destabilising Ukraine or undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine. The website says.
The sanctions include freezing the company's UK assets (if any) and banning the provision of trust services, i.e., asset management services, such as shares.
The company Kazstanex, managed by Vasily Abramov, is registered in Almaty and deals with equipment supplies.
The US Treasury Department and the UK authorities have reason to believe it participated in a scheme to deliver metalworking machines from Central Europe to Russia.
The company fell under US sanctions in late October.
