A 52-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan was detained in St. Petersburg after breaking into the office of the Piter FM radio station while posing as a courier, Orda.kz reports.
The man entered the building carrying a box and headed toward the on-air studio. When staff tried to stop him, he became aggressive. Employees restrained him until the police arrived.
According to Fontanka, the man wanted to go live on air and say a “famous pacifist slogan.”
During a search, police found zip ties on him. He later admitted that he had planned to “neutralize the staff” to reach the microphone. Dog handlers were called to the scene, but no explosives were found.
It later emerged that Piter FM was the man’s second target — he had earlier tried to enter another building but was stopped by security.
The intruder was identified as 52-year-old Nurlan, a citizen of Kazakhstan. Police have filed a report against him for petty hooliganism, though criminal charges have not been ruled out. Preliminary information suggests he acted alone and is not connected to any organizations.
