Kazakhstan has launched TOR — a single digital road safety platform that gathers and displays real-time data on traffic conditions nationwide, Orda.kz reports.
The system integrates information from city and highway surveillance cameras, mobile patrol units, drones, and other connected sources. TOR marks the first step toward the creation of “Safe City,” a national platform intended to merge all surveillance and recognition systems into one digital ecosystem.
The system will pinpoint accident-prone areas, track dangerous drivers, and monitor those driving for more than eight hours without a break, Sergek said in a statement.
According to Sergey Vargo, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department of Information Technology and Communications, TOR not only records violations but also predicts risks, helping prevent incidents before they happen.
Previously, Astana began testing drones equipped with the Sergek intelligent video surveillance system.
These drones can record traffic violations in real time, locate wanted vehicles, and track debtors. If the pilot program proves successful, the project will be expanded to other cities nationwide.
