Kazakhstan to Receive Loan from Russia for Thermal Power Plant

The Majilis of the Parliament has accepted for work a bill on ratifying the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Russia on the construction of coal-fired thermal power plants, Orda.kz reports.
These plants are planned to be built in Kokshetau, Semey, and Oskemen.
According to MP Yedil Zhanbyrshin, the agreement provides for cooperation between the two countries in the design, supply of equipment, construction, and launch of new thermal power plants.
The agreement defines a mechanism for preferential financing. The project envisages the provision of a Russian state export credit to Kazakhstan, Zhanbyrshin noted at the plenary session.
The bill was sent to the Committee on Ecology and Nature Management, which will prepare a conclusion.
Deputies supported its adoption.
Earlier, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Roman Sklyar, stated that the Inter RAO group of companies, associated with Igor Sechin, will build the thermal power plant in Kazakhstan.
