Kazakhstan will assist China in restoring its saiga population, Orda.kz reports.

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has proposed transferring some of the animals to China. Around 1,500 saiga will be relocated to the western regions of the People’s Republic of China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to preserve unique wildlife species.

Saiga numbers in western Kazakhstan have recovered and exceed historical population levels. Russian farmers had recently expressed concern about their migration over the border.
