Kazakhstan to Develop Deposits in Turkmenistan

The Senate approved an agreement on mutual protection of investments between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Orda.kz reports.
In 2024, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $555.7 million. Kazakh investors invested $16.1 million in Turkmenistan, while $0.4 million in investments came from Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan.
The parties are implementing joint projects in the field of rail, road and water transport. Turkmenistan also expressed interest in the repair and modernization of armored vehicles, as well as in the supply of spare parts, said Senator Sergey Yershov.
During President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev’s visit to Ashgabat in the fall of 2024, 21 agreements were signed in the fields of politics, energy, agriculture, transport, cross-border cooperation, sports, tourism, education, and culture.
Among them was the program for the development of a strategic partnership for 2025–2027.
The countries are paying special attention to energy. Kazakhstan plans to take part in projects to develop gas condensate fields in Turkmenistan and in the construction of pipeline infrastructure.
