Kazakhstan to Chair ECO in 2025

The Head of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, announced this in Mashhad as part of the 28th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the ECO member states, Orda.kz reports, citing the department's press service.
Kazakhstan will chair the Economic Cooperation Organization next year under the motto "Promoting regional transport connectivity and sustainable development."
Murat Nurtleu noted the need to strengthen trade and economic ties between the ECO member countries.
He specifically focused on developing transit and transport routes, launching high-speed freight trains, creating a digital transit system, and increasing intraregional trade volumes.
It was also proposed that cooperation between the ECO and the Islamic Organization for Food Security be established.
The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was established in 1985. Its main goal is to promote economic, technical, and cultural cooperation between member states.
Today, it comprises ten countries: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Türkiey, and Uzbekistan.
