The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan and the General Administration of Customs of China have signed a protocol in Shanghai regulating inspection, quarantine, and safety requirements for pork exports from Kazakhstan to China, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Kazakh pork had not previously been supplied to the Chinese market, and no local enterprises were authorized to export such products. Under the new agreement, Kazakhstan will now be able to ship to China frozen and chilled pork, as well as offal and thermally processed products.
The ministry stated that the opening of this market will help increase enterprise utilization and support rural development.
Discussions about China purchasing Kazakh pork began as early as 2024, when Chinese business representatives expressed interest in buying 20,000 tons of the product.
In addition, last year, China also approved the import of poultry products from Kazakhstan.
