Kazakhstan: Ten Regions Achieve Full Water Supply Coverage, Says Minister

Ten of Kazakhstan’s regions have achieved full water supply coverage in both cities and villages, Minister of Industry and Construction Ersayyn Nagaspayev stated at a government briefing, Orda.kz reports.
Currently, the national water access rate is 99.3% in urban areas and 97.5% in rural areas.
In 10 regions, this figure has been increased to 100%. These are in the cities of Almaty, Aqtobe, Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, Qyzylorda, Mangystau, North Kazakhstan, Turkistan regions, Jetisu and Ulytau regions, as well as in the villages of Mangystau region,
the minister said.
Out of 90 cities in the country, 73 are already fully supplied with drinking water. The remaining 17 are expected to be connected by the end of the year.
Among 6,148 villages, 5,679 currently have access to water:
- 4,420 are connected to centralized water systems
- 999 are equipped with block modules
- 260 rely on wells, boreholes, or water delivery in remote areas
Work is ongoing to extend water supply infrastructure to the remaining villages.
