Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, said that Kazakhstan has alternative oil export routes in the event of continued attacks on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) infrastructure, Orda.kz reports.
According to him, around 80% of Kazakhstan’s oil is currently exported via the CPC pipeline. However, other routes are also used.
About 9 million tons of oil are pumped annually along the Atyrau–Samara route, from which it is further shipped to several destinations, including the refinery in Schwedt, Germany, and through the ports of Novorossiysk and Ust-Luga.
We have transportation routes between Kazakhstan and China. Kazakhstani oil is transported in volumes of 1.1 million tons. And there's a route through the Caspian Sea, then into the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan system. This year, we plan to transport around 1.5 million tons,
said the minister.
The Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs protested the attack on the infrastructure of the international Caspian Pipeline Consortium in the waters of the Novorossiysk seaport.
