Kazakhstan's economy grew by 6.2% in the first six months of 2025 — the highest rate recorded in the past 14 years. Growth was driven by sectors such as construction, transport, mining, and manufacturing, reports Orda.kz.
State budget revenues reached 11.4 trillion tenge, exceeding both the forecast and last year's figures.
At a government meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Serik Zhumangarin said the country has entered a period of stable economic expansion.
Economic growth reached 6.2%, which is above last year’s level and the highest in the past 14 years. The real sector grew by 8%, and the services sector by more than 5%. We achieved strong results due to construction, transport, active trade development, and mining. Kazakhstan’s economy is steadily recovering and will continue to grow even faster,
he stated.
The Minister also noted record growth in grain exports and strong industrial performance.
Kazakhstan’s grain exports reached a 13-year high, growing by more than one-third. We continue to expand production of food, building materials, metal products, and petroleum goods. Construction progress is especially encouraging — nearly 8 million square meters of housing were completed in six months. Our priority is continued support for key industries and infrastructure development,
Zhumangarin added.
At the same time, Finance Minister Madi Takiyev explained the increase in Kazakhstan’s public debt in 2025.
As of July 1, public debt stood at 31.9 trillion tenge, or 21.1% of GDP.
Public debt increased by 40 billion tenge since the beginning of the year. The main reason is the financing of the republican budget deficit and the utilization of previously secured loans,
Takiyev said.
He added that on June 24, the Ministry of Finance successfully issued eurobonds totaling $2.5 billion, which allowed Kazakhstan to fully refinance its upcoming 2015 external debt payments without increasing the overall debt load.
