A petition has been posted on the e-petition portal calling for the cancellation of upcoming concerts by rapper Timur Yunusov (Timati), who plans to perform in Almaty and Astana in November, Orda.kz reports.
The petition is addressed to the Ministry of Culture.
The initiators cite Timati’s public support for Russia’s war against Ukraine as the reason for the demand:
Our country, at the official state level, like the majority of the population, supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the independent state of Ukraine. We maintain neutrality in matters of geopolitical military operations and military conflicts. We do not support the aggressive and public propaganda of military aggression by the Russian Federation.
The petition has gathered 50 signatures and has been viewed more than 1,500 times.
It now enters a moderation phase that takes more than a month, meaning it will not be reviewed before Timati’s scheduled performances.
