Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Akan Rakhmetullin, said the government has no confirmed data on the presence of citizens from Kazakhstan in the conflict zone in Ukraine, Orda.kz reports.
According to Rakhmetullin, the authorities rely solely on official diplomatic sources rather than information circulating on social media.
We have no data on how many Kazakhstan citizens are there. There has been no official information, so we cannot consider everything that appears on social networks and in the media to be reliable,
he stated while speaking in the corridors of the Majilis.
He added that if an official notification is received from Ukraine or another country, the relevant departments will involve law enforcement and take appropriate measures. No such communication has been received so far.
It was also reported that Kazakh diplomats held talks with a local initiative group in Kyiv. Still, according to Rakhmetullin, “they were unable to obtain complete information.”
In response to a question about whether families had submitted appeals regarding missing persons, Rakhmetullin said no formal requests had been filed:
“If there had been any requests, the consulate would have recorded this and contacted us.”
