Kazakhstan: Law Enforcement Cracks Down on Prison Drug Networks in Multi-Region Raid

Law enforcement agencies conducted a coordinated operation across ten regions of Kazakhstan targeting drug trafficking into prisons and related criminal financing networks, reports Orda.kz.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that 118 suspects were detained, including 13 inmates and several foreign nationals from neighboring and distant countries.
The network of groups operated according to a well-established scheme. Their activities were documented. The groups included individuals with multiple convictions. During more than 100 searches, we seized three Kalashnikov assault rifles, two traumatic pistols, a large amount of ammunition of various calibers, over 11 kilograms of drugs, mobile devices and 'illegal' documentation, said Kuandyk Alpys, a representative of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The investigation remains ongoing.
