Six men suspected of promoting terrorism have been detained in Almaty, Aqtobe, Qonayev, and Shymkent, Orda.kz reports.
According to the National Security Committee (KNB), the detainees are adherents of destructive religious movements.
According to investigators, they disseminated calls for attacks and killings on religious grounds, and also spoke out against the secular system,
the KNB stated.
During searches, officers confiscated firearms, bladed weapons, and religious literature.
Since the beginning of the year, the KNB reports that 83 people have been arrested for terrorist and extremist activity across Kazakhstan, and 97 have been convicted.
One of the most recent cases concluded in early November in the Aqtobe region, where a local resident received a seven-year prison sentence for inciting terrorism.
