Kazakhstan has extended the restriction on liquefied petroleum gas exports for six months. The Minister of Energy signed the order, which will come into force on November 14, Orda.kz reports.
The Ministry of Energy decided to extend the ban on gas exports, taking into account the growth of its consumption and social significance in the country's domestic market:
To introduce a ban on the export from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan of liquefied petroleum gas (EAEU TN VED code 2711 12 970 0), propane (EAEU TN VED code 2711 12 940 0) and butane (EAEU TN VED code 2711 13 970 0) by road and rail transport for a period of six months.
There will be exceptions:
- Export by subsoil users within an agreement or contract with a consistent tax regime per Article 722 of the Tax Code
- Export of goods produced from Kazakhstan's raw materials extracted from the Karachaganak field, based on international agreements of the Republic of Kazakhstan
- Transit transportation through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan
- Export as part of humanitarian aid by a government decision
The restriction was introduced in Kazakhstan in November last year.
At that time, the Ministry of Energy stated that after the state regulation of retail prices, the population and many industrial enterprises quickly began to switch to this fuel type. In 2022, its domestic market consumption increased by 28%, and the growth was more than 200,000 tons last year.
