Starting August 1, the United States will impose 25% import tariffs on goods from several countries, including Kazakhstan. However, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan says most Kazakh exports will not be affected, Orda.kz reports.
According to the ministry, Kazakhstan received an exception: nearly 95% of its exports will be exempt from the new tariffs.
Key goods like oil, uranium, silver, ferroalloys, tantalum, and titanium remain unaffected.
The Kazakh government has also submitted proposals to the U.S. aimed at preserving stable trade conditions and is currently awaiting a response regarding potential negotiations.
Kazakhstan’s goal is to reach mutually agreed solutions on market access and trade terms. The U.S. side is currently reviewing our proposals. Kazakhstan is preparing for further talks to protect national interests and promote stable economic cooperation,
the Ministry said in a statement.
From January to May 2025, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the United States totaled approximately $1.27 billion.
