Since the start of the year, Kazakhstan has expanded its aviation network with 36 new international routes, Orda.kz reports.

According to a government update on the aviation industry for the first half of the year, the country’s aircraft fleet has also been refreshed. A total of 104 aircraft are now registered in Kazakhstan, including seven newly added planes — six Airbus A320s and one Boeing 737 MAX 8. By 2030, the fleet is expected to grow to 216 aircraft.

Eight foreign carriers entered the Kazakh market in 2025, among them:

  • SpiceJet (India)
  • Eastar Jet and T’way Air (South Korea)
  • Thai AirAsia X (Thailand)
  • China Southern Airlines (China)
  • Asman Airlines (Kyrgyzstan)
  • Air Cairo (Egypt)
  • Air Arabia Abu Dhabi (UAE)

The domestic market also remains active, with 61 routes operating across the country at a frequency of more than 850 flights per week. In addition, 21 subsidized routes are maintained across nine regions, supported by 6.4 billion tenge in government funding.

Last year, Vietnamese holding SOVICO acquired the Kazakhstani airline Qazaq Air, further diversifying the sector.

Meanwhile, from September 22, Turkish Pegasus Airlines will launch direct flights from Aqtobe to Istanbul twice a week, making it the seventh Kazakh city linked to Türkiye by the carrier.
