Kazakhstan Enters Global Top 10 for Sunflower Oil Exports

Kazakhstan has become one of the top sunflower oil exporters globally, according to the Ministry of Trade, Orda.kz reports.
Based on 2024 data, Kazakhstan ranked eighth in the world for sunflower oil exports, marking its first entry into the top 10.
Over the past three years, the production of sunflower oil in the country has increased by 2.5 times, exports by 4.8 times, and imports of packaged oil have decreased by 11%,
the Ministry said.
Kazakhstan also ranked among the top three suppliers of sunflower meal to the European Union.
Export revenue from the sale of oils, meal and cake last season reached 562 million US dollars. In the coming years, Kazakhstan plans to increase this figure to a billion dollars annually,
the Ministry stated.
According to ReportLinker, Kazakhstan also placed tenth globally in sunflower oil production in 2024, accounting for about 1.5% of total world output. Ukraine and Russia remain the industry leaders, contributing a combined 56.2%—29.9% from Ukraine and 26.3% from Russia.
