The Second Central Asian Media Forum is set to begin today in Astana. Ahead of the event, President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev's press secretary, Ruslan Zheldibay, met with representatives of two participating organizations—China's CGTN and Qatar's Al Jazeera, Orda.kz reports.
I discussed the prospects for cooperation in the media sphere with CGTN Deputy Editor-in-Chief Ding Yun. Namely, issues of broad coverage of friendly relations and the dynamics of development of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China, noted Ruslan Zheldibay.
The Kazakh side proposed a joint television project to promote cultural exchange between the two countries.
Zheldibay also met with Iman Al Amri, Director of the Al Jazeera Media Institute, and Issa Ali, Managing Director of Al Jazeera English. Discussions focused on collaborative journalist training programs and the production of documentary series highlighting Kazakhstan’s history, nature, and development.
Last year, during the state visit of the head of state to Qatar, the Presidential Television and Radio Complex signed a memorandum of cooperation with Al Jazeera. One of the key topics of the meeting was the opening of an Al Jazeera correspondent office in Kazakhstan. I believe that its appearance will allow us to create original news materials about events in Kazakhstan and all of Central Asia, wrote the press secretary.
Al Jazeera is an international news outlet headquartered in Doha, Qatar, while CGTN (China Global Television Network) broadcasts international news content in multiple languages, including English and Russian.
