Kazakhstan Determines Location for First Nuclear Power Plant

The government has officially determined by its decree where the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan will be built, Orda.kz reports.
The government decree on approval of the construction site of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan has been published in the official database of regulatory acts.
To make a decision on the construction area of the nuclear power plant 'Nuclear Power Plant' - Jambyl district of Almaty region, the doucment specifices.
The resolution was adopted on December 30, 2024, and was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
The document comes into force on the day of its official publication — today.
On January 8, President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev addressed the government with instructions to accelerate the nuclear power plant's construction.
