Defense procurement was previously under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Orda.kz reports.
Qasym-Jomart Toqayev signed the corresponding decree several days ago.
According to this document, three functions are transferred from the Ministry of Industry to the Ministry of Defense:
- Formation, management, and inter-sectoral coordination of state defense orders
- Implementation of military-technical cooperation
- Pricing for military products, works and services, plus dual-use products — all within the framework of the state defense order
The Ministry of Defense, per the presidential decree, accepts all the rights and obligations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade regarding these functions and powers.
