Kazakhstan Creates Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has signed a decree reorganizing the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
On its basis, a new Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has been established. Responsibilities for innovation have been transferred to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Both agencies are recognized as the legal successors of the former ministry within their respective areas.
The government has been instructed to redistribute staff and take steps to implement the decree. The document entered into force on September 18, 2025.
Toqayev first announced the creation of the new ministry in his annual address to parliament on September 8.
