An extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit took place in Qatar’s capital, with Kazakhstan represented by Majilis Chair Yerlan Koshanov, Orda.kz reports.
In his speech, Koshanov said Kazakhstan condemns Israel’s strike on Qatar targeting Hamas leaders.
Regardless of the motives behind the attack, such actions are completely unacceptable. They violate the sovereign rights of the State of Qatar and are contrary to the principles of international law. Such an attack harms not only the security of a single country, but also the peace and sovereignty of all states that are guided by the principles of international order,
he stated.
On the sidelines, Koshanov met with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who thanked Kazakhstan for its support, as well as with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Koshanov also reiterated Astana’s stance on Gaza, calling for an end to hostilities and wider use of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, headquartered in Astana.
Political scientist Gaziz Abishev noted Kazakhstan’s position aligns with Russia, China, Türkiye, and Central Asian states.
In addition, the leaders of France, Germany and Great Britain gave a negative assessment of the unprovoked attack. The United States did not speak out categorically, but did not express firm support for Israel's actions, which says a lot. Kazakhstan continues to stand on its constant course - the unacceptability of resolving conflicts by force, the need to seek diplomatic solutions,
he commented.
The summit, attended by OIC and Arab League states, unanimously condemned the strike and urged steps to prevent Israel from continuing its aggression against Palestinians.
