A court in St. Petersburg has placed Yaroslava Chumakova, a Kazakhstan-born woman, in pre-trial detention, Orda.kz reports.
According to Kommersant-Saint Petersburg, Chumakova was initially detained on June 19, suspected of aiding in a planned terrorist act aimed at disrupting government operations or influencing decisions related to a senior military official.
Mediazona adds that investigators believe Chumakova cooperated with Ukrainian intelligence services. During questioning, she reportedly admitted to gathering information at the request of a "representative of Ukraine."
According to investigators, Chumakova helped Ukrainian special services collect data on where Defense Ministry employees live and what cars the military and their family members use, the outlet writes.
The court ruled that she will remain in pre-trial custody until August 17.
Earlier, another former Kazakhstan native, Nadezhda Rossinskaya (also known as Nadine Geisler), was sentenced to 22 years in prison in Russia.
