This summer, Kazakhstan increased its gold imports from Russia by 1.72 times, making Russia its only supplier of the precious metal, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Russian state agency RIA Novosti, which cited customs statistics, Russia exported record volumes of gold to Kazakhstan in July 2025, worth $76.9 million — nearly double the figure for July 2024.
No gold was imported from other countries that month.
At the same time, silver exports from Russia to Kazakhstan dropped by almost 20% year-on-year, totaling $15,300. Russia ranked third among Kazakhstan’s silver suppliers, behind Italy and Spain.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakh company Solidcore Resources, which sends gold concentrate to Russia for processing, lost nearly half of its profits due to sanctions. The company will remain dependent on Russian facilities until 2028, when it plans to launch its own Irtysh Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
