Kazakhstan: Blogger Nordkazakh Sentenced to Nearly Four Years in Prison

A court in Kokshetau has sentenced blogger Aslan Tolegenov to three years and nine months in prison, Orda.kz reports.
Tolegenov was convicted on charges of inciting ethnic discord and disseminating knowingly false information.
As the author and administrator of his YouTube channel, he posted and published videos that, according to experts, were aimed at inciting ethnic discord. Furthermore, T. disseminated knowingly false information.

The blogger fully admitted guilt during the trial. The court handed down a sentence of nearly four years in prison.
Tolegenov is known online under the pseudonym Nordkazakh (Northern Kazakh), and his YouTube channel has more than 180,000 subscribers.
He became widely known for his provocative content and for publishing videos expressing pro-Russian positions in the context of the war in Ukraine.
