The Ministry of Culture has confirmed to Orda.kz that recruitment advertisements for the Russian military have been appearing both on social media platforms and on independent websites.
Earlier in the year, Orda.kz investigated VKontakte posts calling for Kazakhstanis to join Russia’s war efforts. Those ads briefly disappeared, but some have recently reported their return.

We asked Mikhail Komissarov, Director of the Ministry of Culture's Center for Analysis and Information, whether the state is actively countering such recruitment efforts.
We're taking action against this type of advertising. Since the beginning of the year, more than 50 advertisements have been blocked. They were posted on specific websites or social media. We also contacted VKontakte, and some of the materials were also removed,
Komissarov told Orda.kz.
According to the ministry, citizens can also report such material themselves:
This can be done on the MKI website in the ‘Complain about Internet content’ section, or by submitting a report via eOtinish with the website, link, and description of the advertisement,
the official added.
In October, the Ukrainian foundation I Want to Live published a list of citizens of Kazakhstan fighting for Russia in Ukraine.
Orda.kz has previously reported on the involvement and deaths of such citizens on the front line.
