Kazakhstan has begun developing a new law "On Non-Governmental Organizations," reports Orda.kz.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, in response to a parliamentary request, stated that the updated legislation will address all concerns raised by deputies.

The authorized body for control, coordination and support of non-governmental organizations has currently initiated work to improve legislation in the field of NGOs and develop a draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan 'On Non-Governmental Organizations' (a working group has been created). At the same time, the issues reflected in the request will also be considered as part of the development of this draft law,
the answer says.

One point involves tightening oversight of NGOs receiving foreign funding. Some parliament members have previously voiced concern about the role of foreign organizations, particularly USAID, in shaping the country's socio-political environment.

They argue that some groups promote values foreign to national traditions, including support for LGBT rights, radical feminism, and subcultures, which they claim could undermine internal stability.
