Tools of the Aurignacian type, the age of which is 31-28 thousand years, have been discovered, Orda.kz reports, citing Science and Life.
Archaeologists have discovered tools similar to processing techniques for Aurignacian products in the foothills of the Northern Tien Shan.
Such items were used in Europe, where this culture was first recorded, about 31–28 thousand years ago. Later, similar artifacts were found in the Caucasus, the Near and Middle East.
The Tien Shan finds became known thanks to excavations of the Uzynagash 1 and 3 sites in 2024. A joint group of employees of the Margulan Institute of Archaeology and the Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences carried out the research.
