Russian energy holding Inter RAO has released its performance data for the first six months of 2025, including figures on electricity exports, Orda.kz reports.
According to the report, Central Asian countries accounted for more than half of all electricity exported from the Russian Federation.
Almost 52% of export deliveries in the first half of 2025 were accounted for by Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and another 16% by Mongolia,
Inter RAO said in a statement.
The company did not specify the exact amount of electricity sold to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. However, the total volume of Inter RAO's exports reached 3.075 billion kilowatt-hours.
Inter RAO is the same company that was initially announced as the contractor for building three thermal power plants in Kazakhstan. Just recently, Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar confirmed that Kazakhstan will proceed with the construction of these power plants independently.
