President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev has signed a law ratifying an agreement between Kazakhstan and Cyprus on the transfer of convicted individuals, Orda.kz reports.

The agreement establishes a legal framework for cooperation in criminal matters between the two countries. Its main purpose is to allow Kazakhstan's citizens convicted abroad to return home to serve out their sentences.

The agreement outlines the procedures for transferring prisoners and specifies the grounds for denying a transfer.

Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office has been designated as the competent authority for carrying out transfer decisions.
