The National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan has signed a memorandum with Zhejiang Technology University to establish an international laboratory for spatiotemporal artificial intelligence and sustainable development.
Scientists from Kazakhstan and China will collaborate on the following research areas:
- Water resource monitoring and management using AI and GIS technologies, with the implementation of advanced tracking and control systems
- Development of early warning systems for natural disasters such as floods, landslides, and avalanches, incorporating predictive modeling and real-time monitoring
- Application of AI for analyzing spatiotemporal data to forecast environmental changes, including climate patterns and ecological shifts
- Digitalization of agriculture and implementation of "smart farming" technologies, focusing on precision agriculture and resource optimization
The project is expected to create a platform for transferring cutting-edge technologies and knowledge in intelligent systems for:
- Logistics and transportation optimization
- Energy management and conservation
- Natural disaster monitoring and early warning systems
- Agricultural analysis and decision-making support
The Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences noted that the establishment of the Kazakh-Chinese Center for Science and Technology Transfer will be a significant milestone at the second China-Central Asia Summit, scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan in 2025.
