Senate Speaker Ashimbayev visited China with a delegation of Kazakh deputies on January 13, meeting top officials Wang Huning and Zhao Leji.
The talks focused on economic cooperation and Middle Corridor projects between the two countries.
The construction of the third railway between Kazakhstan and China, Ayagoz-Tacheng, is beginning. The opening of a third border railway checkpoint is also planned, the Senate press service quotes Maulen Ashimbayev as saying.
This development comes as China, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan are set to construct a railway project put on hold a year earlier.
