Atomic Energy Agency head Almasadam Satkaliyev outlined when construction of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant might begin, Orda.kz reports.
He said the timeline depends on design decisions and the choice of equipment.
Nuclear engineers call this ‘first concrete.’ Only a design study can tell us that. A lot depends on the equipment and the design work. It’s quite difficult to say for sure right now: we’re targeting 2029, according to the Russian plan,
Satkaliyev noted.
He added that design and survey work will continue next year.
It’s important to understand that constructing a nuclear power plant is a highly complex technological undertaking that requires the most detailed study and meticulous preparation. This work is currently underway, including with the involvement of Kazakhstani contractors,
the agency head emphasized.
