Kazakhstan’s Authors’ Society (KazAK) has signed a new agreement with Meta, restoring access to Kazakh music on Instagram and Facebook after a months-long suspension, Orda.kz reports.
The updated licensing deal introduces a transparent system for reporting and royalty distribution, aiming to ensure fair and timely payments to authors and composers. Meta had previously removed Kazakh music in the fall of 2024 due to the expiration of its license.
Negotiations, led by KazAK CEO Ainura Yesendikova, resulted in a two-year agreement signed in April 2025.
Music by Kazakhstan's artists can now be used again in stories, reels, and posts on Meta platforms. The deal also includes long-term cooperation in copyright protection and broader digital initiatives, such as projects on AI and digital safety.
KazAK is Meta’s sole copyright partner in Kazakhstan, recognized under international conventions and treaties.
The organization emphasized that the agreement demonstrates how smaller markets can successfully advocate for cultural and digital rights with global platforms.
