Kazakh Interior Minister Personally Oversees Child Abuse Case in Jambyl Region

Kazakhstan’s Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov has taken personal control of the investigation into the systematic beating of two minors in the Talas district of Jambyl Region, Orda.kz reports.
According to the ministry, the suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. The victims are receiving medical and psychological assistance. An internal review is also underway regarding the actions of local police officers.
The ministry stressed that all forms of violence against children will be firmly stopped and that perpetrators will be held fully accountable under the law.
The case came to light after two teenagers were found in the Talas district being forcibly held and made to herd livestock.
The children’s ombudsman confirmed they were taken to the city of Taraz, to the Center for Supporting Children in Difficult Life Situations, where they are receiving psychological and legal aid, along with necessary investigative support.
