Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Russia, Dauren Abayev, confirmed to Orda.kz that he attended the wedding of Adam Kadyrov, the 17-year-old son of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
On June 30, Ramzan Kadyrov published a post on his official Telegram channel thanking guests who attended the celebration in Grozny.
Among those mentioned were the ambassadors of Iran, the UAE, Türkiye, and Kazakhstan.
I was glad, friends, to see in Grozny these days numerous guests from among people whom I value and respect very much, as well as ambassadors of Iran, the UAE, Türkiye, Kazakhstan. They all came to congratulate our family on the wedding of the grandson of the first president of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov – Adam, Kadyrov wrote.
Orda.kz reached out to Dauren Abayev to confirm whether he was present at the wedding:
I am an ambassador not only to Moscow, but also to the Russian Federation as a whole. And, in particular, I regularly visit the regions. And the Chechen and Kazakh peoples are linked by very close, friendly relations. We remember that thousands of Chechens were deported to Kazakhstan. And the Chechens have not forgotten how the Kazakhs did not abandon them when they found themselves in trouble. First of all, as a sign of this friendship, I visited, Abayev said.
Adam Kadyrov, the youngest son of the Chechen leader, gained public attention in 2023 for assaulting Nikita Zhuravel, a man arrested for burning the Quran.
Following the incident, Kadyrov received awards from various Russian regions.
Dauren Abayev has held the position of Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Russia since July 2023.
