Sources report that the fifth activist of the Karakalpak diaspora, Tleubike Yuldasheva, was recently detained at the Zhaysan checkpoint in the Aktobe region. She is going to be handed over to local police officers in the near future.
This is the fifth detention of members of the Karakalpak diaspora in Kazakhstan since September 13.
Koshkarbay Toremuratov, Zhangeldi Dzhaksymbetov, Raisa Khudaibergenova, Ziuar Mirmanbetova were reportedly detained before this.
Nietbai Urazbaev, the leader of the Karakalpak diaspora in the Mangistau region and a member of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, was almost subject to arrest on October 6. He, however, is a citizen of Kazakhstan. The issue has therefore remained in limbo.
Most of the detainees are being charged with an article regarding the infringement on the constitutional order of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The diaspora, on the other hand, claims those detained were in Kazakhstan during the protests in Karakalpakstan.
