In the court case involving Perizat Kairat, founder of the Biz Birgemiz Qazaqstan 2030 charity foundation, the court heard from victims and witnesses regarding the second episode of the case — the collection of donations for Gaza and the subsequent humanitarian aid operation, Orda.kz reports.
It's Who You Know...
Askhat Nurmashev, president of the ASAR-UME foundation, testified about how he met Kairat. He said he met her around 2021 at charity events. In November 2023, his organization transferred 200 million tenge to the Biz Birgemiz Qazaqstan 2030 fund.
After the escalation of conflict in the Middle East in October 2023, ASAR-UME decided to help civilians in Gaza by collecting essential goods and medicines.
We were looking for someone to send humanitarian aid through. Information appeared on social networks that Perizat Kairat, together with the Palestinian embassy, was organizing collections to help residents of the Gaza Strip. It was said that Perizat Kairat had signed an agreement with the Palestinian embassy in Kazakhstan. I met with Perizat and learned that she has contacts in the UAE with a foundation that organizes humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Moreover, she has access to a warehouse, a special hub in Abu Dhabi, where international cargo is formed for shipment to the Gaza Strip, said Nurmashev.
He flew with Kairat to Abu Dhabi to confirm this. There, he said, she not only had access to the hub but also seemed to have friendly ties with the UAE's royal family.
Convinced, ASAR-UME launched its fundraising campaign on November 10, 2023. Within five days, it collected 293 million tenge — its largest-ever campaign.
Due to the amount and complexity, the fund decided to transfer the money in parts. But Kairat objected, saying the hub wouldn't process small tranches.
She pushed for a full transfer.
Their trust increased when she invited them to a UAE Day event in Astana on November 14, attended by top Kazakh officials.
They said that the UAE knows about the charitable work of the Biz Birgemiz Qazaqstan 2030 foundation. I was at this event, and on November 29 we were also invited to an event organized by the Palestinian Embassy in Kazakhstan. My colleague attended this event, Nurmashev said.
Eventually, they agreed to send an initial 200 million tenge, with the remaining 93 million to be sent once a report was received. The first transfer was made on November 28.
Kairat was to report in December 2023. She delayed, citing technical issues, and eventually sent only a partial report. In February, bank receipts were submitted to ASAR-UME.
We had no doubts about her integrity at the time... Only the investigation into this case established that these were forged documents. We agreed with the Palestinian embassy on the remaining funds of 93 million tenge, and transferred this money to their account to help the residents of the Gaza Strip, Nurmashev said.
Sweet Talk
During court, criminal slang emerged repeatedly in official evidence and witness testimony.
Blogger Olzhas Sadyk, who often organizes donations via Instagram, was another victim. He and fellow blogger Nazim Misanov collected over 83.5 million tenge in October 2023 for Gaza.
"I was given the details to which I could transfer the money. I thought they were from the Palestinian embassy. But it was an incomprehensible scan of a document... the bank address turned out to be in Israel. My friend checked the details through someone and said that it could be dangerous to transfer to them, the money would go to God knows where" Sadyk testified.
He later opted for a UNICEF channel before Kairat personally contacted him. She was able to convince Olzhas Sadyk that her foundation Biz Birgemiz Qazaqstan 2030 could be trusted, and invited the blogger to Dubai to see a special hub for international humanitarian cargo.
After refusing to work with the embassy, I started getting calls from unknown people. They accused me. They said: 'Are you trying to toss us out?' he added.
The combination of these factors inclined him to prefer Perizat Kairat, and Olzhas Sadyk transferred more than 83.5 million to the account of the Biz Birgemiz Qazaqstan 2030 fund.

After that, the blogger tried several times to obtain a report on the use of funds or any confirmation from the fund. According to him, Perizat Kairat ignored him.
Sadyk said he had never met Kairat before she called him. He questioned how she got his contact information.
Later, Altyn Musina, a state clinic accountant from Aqtobe, said she helped Kairat prepare financial documents.
In November-December 2023, she helped Perizat with accounting, including reports on the use of funds raised by the ASAR-UME fund to help residents of the Gaza Strip.
They asked her to provide some reports, and she couldn't understand what format to use for this report, how to do it. She asked me to create it. I requested the documents, she sent them to me via WhatsApp. I created the report, she told me what documents to attach. Usually, receipts and transfer documents are attached to the report. I created a document in Word, created the report. But I didn't have the original documents, she had to provide them herself, Altyn Musina said.
According to her, Perizat sent her two statements from the banking system for international money transfers, and the amounts in them were very different.
First, she sent one statement for about 2,000 dollars, I don't remember exactly, but the amount was not large. And then there was another similar statement. But, as I understood, Perizat Kairat redid it on paper, and there was a different amount, much larger, about 100 thousand dollars or something like that. I showed it to her later, clarified why it was like that, where the error was. But then, based on this statement, a SWIFT message is generated. And Perizat did not send it to me (It is not known whether she corrected the amount or not - Ed.), she transferred them to ASAR-UME, Altyn Musina clarified.
State prosecutor Arman Kaziken read from case files that included chat messages with similar moments:
Perizat: "I'll try it now from my iPad at home. Only 200 thousand. Because the phone screen is small."
Altyn: "a little more shamanic, but, as is, it's cool."
Perizat: "Holy crap, I feel like a criminal."
Altyn: vocie message
Perizat: "So, if you draw up these payment orders now... we will push off from this payment order and submit reports?"
Kairat actively questioned witnesses and interrupted proceedings during trial. During the questioning, she asked witnesses to confirm information and indicated to the court what evidence should be considered.
From time to time, the defendant openly accused some witnesses of lying while giving speeches of gratitude to others. She also asked the court to request another representative of the victim since, in her opinion, they were not answering the questions fully enough.
The judge reprimanded her at least six times, eventually asking her if she even understood the rules of conduct in court, which had been explained to her several times.
Charges
Perizat Kairat has been charged under:
- Clause 2, Part 4, Article 190: Fraud (three counts)
- Clause 1, Part 2, Article 218: Laundering funds acquired by a group through prior agreement
- Clause 3, Part 3, Article 218: Large-scale money laundering
Her mother, Gaini Alashbayeva, faces the same three charges.
Perizat Kairat was arrested in the fall of 2024. Authorities seized her luxury property in December. She and her mother were taken into custody in April 2025. The case was sent to court on June 30, with the main trial beginning July 14.
