Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed the arrest of Murad Boranbayev, brother of prominent businessman Kairat Boranbayev, on June 20, Orda.kz reports.
Murad had been wanted since 2022 in connection with a case involving the alleged embezzlement of public funds. In 2017, he served as the head of Alan Parking LLP, a company that operated paid parking in Almaty.
While Alan Parking director Mukhtar Bazarbayev was arrested in April 2022, Boranbayev remained at large and was considered the main suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
