Nurali Aliyev, grandson of Nursultan Nazarbayev, has been replaced on Transtelecom's board of directors by Jusan Mobile top managers following his sale of company shares, reports Orda.kz.
According to KASE, Transtelecom's board changed on February 12. Along with Aliyev, two other top managers - Berik Utemurat and Yeldar Gumarov - were removed from their positions.
While Dmitry Pokupalev, who previously controlled 75% of shares with Aliyev, retained his position as board chair, three Jusan Mobile representatives joined the board:
- Kairat Balykbayev (Chair of the Board of Jusan Mobile, former Vice Minister of Information and Communications, Managing Director of the Digital Initiatives Directorate of the Eurasian Development Bank, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration)
- Andrey Marchenko (Chair of the Board of Directors of Jusan Mobile)
- Nurlan Aryngaziyev (member of the board of directors of Jusan Mobile)
The KASE document indicates these new board members represent shareholder TOO Unit Telecom, which still lists Pokupalev and Aliyev as founders as of February 11.
This information is expected to change following Aliyev's announced sale of Transtelecom.
The changes coincide with Vyacheslav Kim, Kazakhstan's wealthiest businessman, confirming on February 13 his intention to acquire 97.5% of Jusan Bank shares from Galimzhan Yessenov.
As Yessenov manages Jusan Mobile through JV Holding Ltd, his potential involvement in the Transtelecom deal cannot be ruled out.
