Child Suicides And Violence Rise In Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, 74 children died by suicide in the first four months of this year, Orda.kz reports, citing Finprom.kz analysts.
According to the study, the number of child suicides in January–April 2026 increased by 13.7% compared with the same period last year. At the same time, the number of suicide attempts decreased.
Thousands of children are also injured every year. According to analysts, last year more than 179,000 minors needed medical care after accidents, poisoning, and other external causes.
In the first four months of 2026, about 1,500 minors became victims of criminal offenses, 5.7% more than a year earlier. Of these, more than 1,100 suffered from crimes, while another 340 suffered from criminal offenses.
Violence against children remains a serious problem.
In 2025, more than 700 minors became victims of violence. Another 543 children suffered from beatings, and more than 480 were victims in cases involving intentional harm to health.
In addition, 29 children became victims of human trafficking, five were kidnapped, and three were illegally deprived of liberty.
At the same time, experts also recorded an increase in juvenile delinquency. In 2025, about 2,500 minors became defendants in criminal cases, and a significant share of them were suspected of serious and especially serious crimes.
