Journalist Evgeniya Baltatarova Receives Political Asylum in France
Journalist Evgeniya Baltatarova, known for her criticism and active civic position, received political asylum in France after waiting a year, Orda.kz reports, citing SOTA.
Evgenia left Russia and headed to Europe via Kazakhstan.
At the time of her departure, she was on Russia's wanted list and was temporarily detained in Kazakhstan.
In her homeland, several criminal cases were brought against the journalist, including charges of disseminating "fakes" about the Russian Armed Forces and failing to fulfill duties related to the status of a "foreign agent."
Baltatarova was twice included in the register of "foreign agents."
While in France, Evgenia can continue her professional activities.
