Governor Oleg Kozhemyako of Primorsky Krai has reported the death of Major General Mikhail Gudkov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy. He was killed on July 2 in Russia’s Kursk region, near the border.
Gudkov was appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy in March 2025. He previously led the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, which fought near Kyiv, in the Donbas, and later in the Kursk region. In 2023, he was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
Russian Telegram channels report that Gudkov may have been killed in a Ukrainian missile strike on a command post in the village of Korenevo.
Under Gudkov’s command, the 155th Marine Brigade took part in early fighting in the Kyiv region during the initial phase of Russia’s invasion. According to The Insider, Ukrainian authorities accuse the unit of committing war crimes in Bucha, Irpin, and Hostomel.
